Dozens of old-timers from Heinkel on the road through Drenthe: ‘This is going pretty smoothly, isn’t it?’

About sixty motor scooters and dwarf cars from the German brand Heinkel traveled through Drenthe from Beilen today. It has become a traditional ride, organized by Heinkelklub De Kwakel.

The club keeps the old German brand – which manufactured cars, airplanes and motor scooters, among other things – alive by organizing monthly trips with members. “We have members all over the country,” says Wilfred Leunge from Beilen. He has now invited his fellow members for the sixth year for a trip through the countryside of Drenthe. “It’s just beautiful here.”

Apparently his fellow members think so too, because Leunge records a record turnout today. A participant even came from the Bremen area to Beilen. “It’s alive,” Leunge notes with satisfaction. “Some people only come today, but there are also plenty who are around here at the campsite. We always organize a bingo for them on Saturday evening. These are fun weekends.”
