Dozens of motorists drove into traffic on the A28 towards Groningen on Friday morning to avoid a traffic jam further on. This is reported by Rijkswaterstaat.
Rijkswaterstaat calls the incident bizarre on Twitter. The wrong-way drivers used the Haren ramp as an exit because a tilted truck caused delays on Julianaplein. What makes the incident extra strange is that, according to Rijkswaterstaat, there has been a continuous flow of traffic, the motorists could simply drive past the accident and would only be slightly delayed.
The police have been called in and are investigating the footage.
