The police handed out dozens of fines on Sunday to participants of an illegal scooter meeting in Coevorden. Various violations were committed during this meeting at the De Mars industrial estate.

“Officers saw several drivers driving at high speed (…). Many were not wearing helmets, and some appeared to be driving without a valid driver’s license. In addition, some vehicles were missing license plates,” the police wrote.

Seventy scooter riders were present at the meeting, which caused a nuisance at the Coevorder business park around 12.40 p.m. It has not been announced how many of them were fined, but according to the police a total of 49 fines were issued. The lion’s share was in favor of participating in the illegal scooter meeting.

Reports were also drawn up for driving without a driver’s license (2 times), no (approved) helmet (2 times), driving with a slippery tire (1 time) and not being able to show a valid ID (1 time).
