Dozens of farmers in tractors gather at the Media Park in Hilversum

Where a group of farmers blocked the A9 in the direction of Amsterdam tonight, the new group in Hilversum is already ready. This time the farmers from Eemland are coming from to protest. There is also a police presence.

Groups of farmers have been blocking roads throughout the province throughout the day. In this way they draw attention to the nitrogen problem. In Alkmaar three people have already been arrested because they did not want to put their tractors aside and because the instructions of the police would not have been followed.

And it seems that the farmers’ protests have not come to an end to this day. Because the new group has now gathered in large numbers – according to a farmer of the protest – around the Media Park in Hilversum. According to news photographer Caspar Huurdeman, about ten police officers were already waiting on arrival.

On the spot, Huurdeman says that the farmers are now all standing in front of the NOS building. “They are here talking to each other and to the police. But they are here in peace and there is no aggression.” The atmosphere would therefore be pleasant. “There are also farm children walking around,” he tells NH Nieuws.

“It is quiet and without problems here, but you notice that when you really start a conversation, the farmers are angry”

They try to convey a message with signs and banners on the tractors. Despite the fact that there is not really a protest going on at the moment, emotions are running high. “It’s quiet here and without problems, but you notice that when you really start a conversation, the farmers are angry.”

A farmer says he does not yet know how long they will remain standing. But ‘crazy things won’t happen’ anymore, according to Huurdeman.

“We will remain present until we hear from the municipality what the policy is that we are following”

spokeswoman for the Central Netherlands Police

A spokeswoman for the Central Netherlands police says that the police are indeed in talks with the farmers. No arrests have been made yet. “We will remain present until we hear from the municipality what the policy is that we are following.” The spokeswoman also says that it is not yet known how the police officers were aware of the protest. They were already on site before the farmers arrived.
