Several calves were killed in a fire in a barn of a farm in Oldeberkoop, Friesland. An adjacent barn containing more than a hundred cows was preserved, the fire brigade reports.
The fire broke out late Friday night and was almost extinguished around 12:30 am. It is unknown what caused the fire. A dozen calves were killed. Several were also rescued by emergency services. One calf was euthanized by the vet because of his injuries.
The cows in the adjacent barn were unharmed and have now also come to rest, according to the fire brigade.
