The cash registers of camping Den Driesch of reality star Peter Gillis will not ring for the time being.
The campsite is forced to close its doors two weeks after opening, reports The Limburger†
Operating permit
The campsite of the well-known TV star van Mass is cashier does not have the necessary operating permit. “Then you can talk like Brugman, but we still had to close,” said the founder of the Oostappen Group.
Mayor Daan Prevoo van Valkenburg informs the newspaper that at the end of last year it was pointed out several times that the campsite does not have a permit. Gillis hopes that he will be able to open again soon, as he already has many bookings planned for the Amstel Gold Race and the Easter weekend.
‘Request eight weeks’
That will probably not work, Prevoo hints: “The normal turnaround time is eight weeks. That applies to the operator of the Polfermolen, of which the municipality itself is interested, so also for Mr Gillis.”
Striking detail: the website currently has a text that reads: ‘The campsite will be fully open again from 1 April’. However, it is only possible to book something from 1 May.

‘City resort’
At the end of last year, Gillis announced that it had taken over the campsite. Even then, he made his plans clear: he wants to transform the campsite into ‘Stadspark Valkenburg’. The entire park would therefore have to be completely overhauled: “Those campers and such are going away, tabee, that’s over. We are going to rent out beds. Chalets with terrace, for a weekend or week away with the family. 150 units, 750 men in total,” said Gillis at the end of last year.
The campsite is 500 meters from the city center and next to the Castle Ruins with the ancient tunnel system of the Velvet Cave below.
