Downer for Efteling: Grand Hotel opens a year later than planned

Efteling Grand Hotel will not open at the end of 2024, as previously planned, but will only open its doors in 2025. The project has been delayed because one of the builders of the luxury hotel, construction company Byldis from Veldhoven, recently ran into financial problems. “Fortunately, the company has now been taken over and the preparatory work has continued,” says Nicole Scheffers, director of Park & Resorts at Efteling.

“Everything went according to plan,” says Scheffers. Until Byldis was declared bankrupt last September. That company made prefab parts for the hotel at another location, which can soon be assembled in the park.

Yet another postponement
Shortly after the bankruptcy of the Veldhoven company, Efteling announced that the news would probably have no influence on the planning. Even though the Veldhoven company has now been taken over, this now appears to be the case. “Because we are now working with another party, the construction schedule has been adjusted.”

Certain work that should have started in September can now only start next January. The company does not dare to say exactly when the luxury hotel will open. In any case, the previous target date of the end of next year will not be achieved.

700 beds
The Efteling Grand Hotel is the first place in the park where you can sleep. The building will have seven floors and will be 106 meters wide. The hotel will soon have a total of 143 rooms and approximately 700 beds. There will also be a swimming pool and sauna, two restaurants and two souvenir shops.
