Double support for national coach Nagelsmann

Pellegrino Matarazzo, the head coach of Bundesliga soccer team TSG Hoffenheim, cannot understand the harsh criticism of his former superior and current national coach Julian Nagelsmann. Marco Rose from RB Leipzig also supports the DFB coach.

“I’m surprised at how quickly it all happened and how everything turned around,” said Matarazzo on Friday at the TSG 1899 matchday press conference. The 45-year-old coach was Nagelsmann’s assistant in the 2018/19 season and maintains a good relationship to him.

RB Leipzig’s coach Marco Rose also stood in front of Julian Nagelsmann and took the players to task. “It doesn’t feel good right now. I think we all feel that way. I think that, first and foremost, it’s the boys’ responsibility to do better,” said Rose.

Support for Nagelsmann: “Julian communicates well”

“We’ve just changed the national coach. Now we’re discussing the next one again. I said to Hansi that he has my full support. I’m saying the same thing about Julian now.”

Nagelsmann had been criticized in recent days after the defeats against Turkey (2:3) and in Austria (0:2). It wasn’t just about the results, but also about the often complex approach of the former Bayern coach.

“Julian communicates his path well. Communication is one of his greatest strengths. I can relate to everything he does,” said Matarazzo. Nagelsmann and the DFB team will not have test matches again until March. The home European Championship begins on June 14th with the opening game in Munich.
