Double LP Arno Adams to be released on Record Store Day | 1Limburg

Arno Adams no longer has a record player. He left with his vinyl collection many years ago. It doesn’t make the musician from Belfeld any less proud of his own double LP that will be released with Record Store Day.

“I did listen to the record, to get a feel for what it sounds like on vinyl,” says Adams. “But I’m not going to buy a record player for this one LP.”

Own label
Music store Sounds Venlo releases Arno Adams’ compilation album. It is the first release on their own record label Sounds Great.

Owner of Sounds Geert Driessen: “Arno was not yet available on record. We just really wanted to get that done. And yes, when you put a record on the market, you automatically have a label.”

Music Machine in Sittard started releasing vinyl under their own name years ago. The record store in Venlo follows with the release of Arno during Record Store Day. The international holiday to promote vinyl has grown in a few years into an event in record stores at home and abroad.

Geert Driessen: “I estimate that today we have about 350 new titles in the store that you can’t sell until Record Store Day itself. Vinyl has of course grown enormously in recent years. promotion day is necessary. Compare it with the book week. That is also every year.”

Record Store Day celebrates independent record stores by drawing attention to vinyl of all shapes and sizes.

The title of Adams’ album is “Ut Is Wie Ut Is”. There are 24 songs on it and the album, according to Adams himself, gives a nice overview of his 23-year career as a dialect singer: “There is also a lot that is not on it. Fortunately I did not have to make the choice for the songs, other done for me. I’m super proud of this. It’s the icing on the cake, although the LP will probably be on the mantel forever.”
