The Barcelona City and Science biennialwhich has already held two successful editions, will have a second headquarters in Madrid at the proposal of the government of Ada Colau itself. Like the unfolded Primavera Sound festival, but knowingly and promoted by the host city. Yes indeed, collaboration with Madrid is not articulated through the consistory led by José Luis Martínez-Almeida (PP) nor of the Autonomous Community chaired by Isabel Ayuso, to whom the mayoress of Barcelona has launched a public pulse. The partner chosen is the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madridwith financing of the bicapitality agreement signed by Pedro Sánchez (PSOE).
The event will be held again in February, its original slot on the calendar. Concretely it will take place from February 21 to 26. The pandemic led to moving it to June so that the activities could be outdoors and prevent contagion. The theme of this edition will be Lifenot from an abstract perspective but on “what it means to live on the planet & rdquor ;, “what it means to live in the city and how we can imagine coexistence among humans, with other organisms or with machines & rdquor ;, indicates the organization in a statement this Tuesday.
The curators of this biennial are experts from Barcelona and Madrid: the urban sustainability researcher Helen Cole, the writer and musician Lluís Nacenta, the Physics professor Josep Perelló, the CSIC scientist Elea Giménez, and the professor and member of the RAE José Manuel Sanchez Ron.
“Strengthen the bridges & rdquor;
The presentation of the 2023 biennial did not take place in Barcelona, the city that promoted the event, but in Madrid. The headquarters of the Círculo de Bellas Artes hosted this Tuesday the announcement of the double headquarters, with the presence of the deputy mayor Jordi Martí. They have also attended Valerio Rocco, director of the Círculo de Bellas Artes; and Imma Aguilar, the director of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), an entity that also promotes the double scenario.
