Miguel Andrés Moreno is the new national coach of the Dutch futsal team. The Spaniard has appointed Zaid el Morabiti as assistant coach. He will combine his work at Oranje with that at Lebo.
El Morabiti himself played 119 international matches for the Dutch team. He replaces Samir Makhoukhi, who was assistant coach under Max Tjaden. This season, El Morabiti lost to FC Eindhoven in the semi-finals of the play-offs. In a deciding game the Brabant were the strongest.
High confidence in Moreno
“The KNVB wants to take steps in futsal and this is also my ambition,” says 45-year-old Moreno, who previously worked in the Netherlands at FC Eindhoven and as an assistant at Orange. “I have every confidence that we will make a lot of progress in Dutch indoor football in the coming years and that we will also experience more beautiful moments with Oranje Futsal in this way.”
Internationally trained coach
Pastor Tjaden starts as technical manager futsal. “With Moreno we have really brought a top coach to the Netherlands”, he knows. “Miguel is an internationally renowned coach and has already won many awards at the clubs where he has worked. He can take the team, the players and Dutch futsal to an even higher level. With his knowledge and experience, we are blazing a trail towards qualifying for the 2024 World Cup.”
