Tom Overtoom scored once for Telstar in the cup, but not yet in the competition. Tonight that finally happened, in the home match against FC Dordrecht (2-2). “The goal was nice, just a little double.”
At the beginning of the match Tom Overtoom shot the ball beautifully with his lesser left leg into the top left corner. “My goal was also necessary, because we had a bad start.” At that moment, Overtoom put his team next to FC Dordrecht again, 1-1. And it was the prelude to Telstar’s excellent game. Yet the chat with the Rijnmonders ends in a 2-2 draw.
‘Added value’
Trainer Mike Snoei was also visibly disappointed afterwards. Telstar certainly had three huge opportunities at the beginning of the second half. “We just had to win today.” Where several White Lions did not pull the trigger, Overtoom did. Trainer Snoei is happy with the steps his midfielder has made in recent weeks. “A very good added value at the moment.”

From sofa to base
Where Overtoom was invariably in the starting lineup last year in the team of the then trainer Andries Jonker, the 31-year-old Amsterdammer had to take a seat on the bench this season. Lately Overtoom has been playing again and he is important with assists and therefore also a goal. “I took my chance.”

Due to the draw, Telstar has risen one spot in the ranking. The White Lions are now twelfth and will visit NAC Breda next weekend.
