National player Yasin Ehliz from EHC Red Bull Munich has been named striker and player of the year in the German Ice Hockey League.
In the main round, the 30-year-old became the DEL’s top scorer with 60 points together with Andreas Thuresson from the Kölner Haie.
The 2018 Olympic silver medalist prevailed in the award for the best player, which the league has every year from coaches, managers, captains and experts.
Ehliz and EHC Munich start the DEL playoffs on Wednesday
Henrik Haukeland from the Düsseldorfer EG was voted the best goalkeeper in the league and Nick Bailen from the Kölner Haien was voted the best defender.
Coach of the year was Mark French from ERC Ingolstadt, second in the main round. Bennet Roßmy from Eisbären Berlin was honored as the best newcomer.
The quarterfinal series in the playoffs begins on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then the Adler Mannheim will play against the Kölner Haie, Munich against Bremerhaven, Ingolstadt against Düsseldorf and Straubing against Wolfsburg in a maximum of seven games per series to get into the semi-finals. The favorite is Munich, the winner of the main round, and the sharks are the secret favourite.
