A nice boost for water polo club ZV De Zaan. Today, the men and women have qualified for the finals for the national championship. They both already won the cup, so the ‘double’ is still achievable.
The men’s team qualified by beating Polar Bears (Ede) in a best of three series. They won the second game 14-10, which was enough after Friday’s 17-10 victory. Phil Brantjes made four hits. The opponent in that final is not yet known, the mutual score at GZC Donk and AZC is 1-1.
Just like the men, the women of ZV De Zaan needed two games. They were twice too strong for USZC (14-8 and 13-5). Their opponent is already known, that is GZC Donk. Both teams will play their finals on the weekend of May 12 and 13. If a decision game is needed, it will be played on May 14.
