NEC Nijmegen, the club of footballer Bas Dost, provided an update this afternoon on the health of the striker from Coevorden. Dost says that there is still uncertainty about why he collapsed on the field.
In the match between AZ and NEC yesterday afternoon, Dost fell to the ground in the ninetieth minute of the match. Immediately afterwards, players and medical aid rushed to the goalgetter. After he was treated on the field, an ambulance took Dost to the hospital in Alkmaar. The match was permanently stopped shortly afterwards.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sympathizes with me and my family. We greatly appreciate this support,” Dost said via the NEC club channels. The former FC Emmen footballer receives a lot of support on social media.
“In the coming days, investigations will have to reveal what caused what happened to me yesterday,” Dost said. The striker will use the coming time to ‘recover in peace’. He also indicates that he needs time to come to terms with the event with his family.
