DOS’46 completely hands over derby of the North

KORFBAL – In the derby of the north, against the Frisian LDODK, DOS’46 from Nijeveen suffered a narrow defeat tonight. In an exciting game, DOS completely relinquished a big lead, allowing LDODK to call itself ‘The best of the North’ for a while: 19-21.

DOS got off to a fantastic start and took a 6-0 lead in no time. The team, where trainer Herman van Gunst was absent due to the flu, did not like the opponent very much and seemed supreme. It took LDODK a moment to recover from the shock, but then gradually came closer and closer. After 25 minutes a halftime score of 11-8 was on the scoreboard.

Turnaround in the game

After the break, the roles were completely reversed and DOS’46 completely relinquished the lead. LDODK was suddenly ahead in Nijeveen 14-16 via beautiful hits from Marloes Frieswijk and Marjolein Kroon. Meanwhile, the forces flowed further and further away from the team from Nijeveen. With Veldhuijsen’s 19-20 it came close to a result, but in the end the final chord was for LDODK and they won in Nijeveen 19-21.

Due to the defeat, DOS has temporarily dropped out for fourth place, which entitles them to a ticket for the play-offs in the championship group. On Saturday another tough game against leader Fortuna awaits.
