Dortmund shines at 1860 Munich

BVB took on the “Lions” from Munich with their best line-up. A newcomer convinced – and scored directly on his debut.

First competitive game, first win: Borussia Dortmund won at 1860 Munich in the first round of the DFB Cup. Coach Edin Terzic’s team put in a strong performance on Friday evening and were rewarded with a clear 3-0 win.

Donyell Malen gave Dortmund the lead (8th minute). Jude Bellingham (31st) and new signing Karim Adeyemi (35th) also scored.

Adeyemi after the game on ARD: “We played well and deserved to win. We wanted to score a lot of goals, and we managed that well in the first half.” 1860 coach Michael Köllner congratulated BVB: “Today things didn’t go so well for us. Dortmund were happy to play, but in the end it was hard bread for us.”

That’s how the game went

Last season’s runners-up started the game with the best players – but without veteran Mats Hummels, who was only on the bench. In the center of defence, Terzic relied on the newcomers and national players Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle. Adeyemi as newcomer number three made the debutant ball perfect. Youssoufa Moukoko replaced Sébastien Haller, who was out after a tumor operation.

The game was just eight minutes old when Malen pulled in down the left wing and scored (8′). 1860 keeper Marco Hiller had no chance.
