Dorna Sports files for bankruptcy of Kymiring’s subsidiary.
Dorna Sports, which owns the rights to the MotoGP races, files for bankruptcy against Kymiring Events. The matter has been initiated on September 30.
Mightily according to the information, Dorna Sports is seeking 6.4 million euros in reference to the promotion agreement concluded in July 2021.
Dorna Sports, headquartered in Spain, signed an agreement with Kymiring’s subsidiary Kymiring Events to organize the MotoGP race.
Iltalehti reported on September 27 that Dorna Sports had sent Kymiring an ultimatum regarding the organization of the summer 2023 race. At that time, Dorna announced that if there are no changes to the track located in Iiti, there will be no MotoGP race next summer.
Changes could not be made, so the Finnish MotoGP race will not be run next summer either.
– The question is not whether the track will be completed by next summer. It should have been ready at the end of this month so that MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports could have organized the race next summer, the president of the track company Ilkka Kivisaari told Iltalehte.
– When the track is not ready, it is not on their calendar. That’s it. Dorna doesn’t really talk anymore. It was a notification thing from them.
KymiRing oy, on the other hand, is undergoing corporate restructuring, which helps the railway company to avoid bankruptcy.
