Doreen Vennekamp wins the World Cup with a world record

Pistol shooter Doreen Vennekamp has won the World Cup in Bhopal, India.

The 27-year-old from Steinach prevailed in her favorite sport pistol discipline in the final with 30:29 against the Chinese Ziyue Du.

European Champion Vennekamp equaled the world record with 594 points in the qualification, which the Bulgarian Diana Iorgowa has held since 1994.

“I went into the final and didn’t know if I had the strength in my arms and muscles. That’s why I said I have to hear every hit, then it’s mental and then I’ll pull it through,” said Vennekamp after the second World Cup victory her career: “And when I saw the result on the big screen, I was overjoyed.”
