Door to Door for Everyone: they seek to exempt imported products from taxes

The failed project Omnibus law I had an article I rewrote. the baggage regime: provided for tax exemption to those who brought products from abroad, unlike the current franchise, which has a limit of $500 by air and $300 by land plus a cell phone and a computer. But the article was not discussed.

That’s why, the deputy of the Civic Coalition Juan Manuel López presented a particular project to modify that issue, which they were going to accompany from their space, and also include tax exemption in the door-to-door system and the Courier regime, those that allow you to carry out purchases from individuals on platforms such as amazonAliExpress or eBayalthough it is also used by companies to enter some spare parts and specific supplies.

“The possibilities are hyper-limited today. In the door-to-door system you can buy tax-free up to $50. From there, a tariff of 50% of the value of the product is applied: it becomes impressively expensive,” López explained on LT10, Radio Universidad del Litoral.

The Civic Coalition’s commitment is to improve prices in technology and clothing: “They are expensive even compared to international prices. It is unfair to those who can travel: those who go to Miami buy cheaper clothes than those who do not travel,” argued López.

Regarding the unfair competition that could occur with local companies, the deputy explained: “Therefore it harms those who work in companies in Tierra del Fuego. But Those who are unprotected today are the millions of Argentine consumers. “This cannot be sustained just to protect these businessmen.” The Civic Coalition project has already entered the Chamber and is waiting to be discussed.

At the end of January, the Ministry of Commerce revealed that it was analyzing making changes to the Door-to-Door system, but then there were no announcements in this regard.
