Doom takes gold with the Tornados
, those are the four who made it in Belgrade. Alexander Doom from Roeselare was the second Belgian to leave, and was the first to leave after a strong turn by Watrin. Doom had to backtrack for a while in his 400 meters, but was able to pass Spain again, so that Sacoor was the first to start. It remained a neck-and-neck race with Spain, but closing runner Kevin Borlée finished it off magnificently. Belgium finished in 3″06″52″, ahead of Spain and the Netherlands.
