Not only in Friedrichshain do radical environmentalists let air out of the tires of larger, high-powered cars. In the past few days, drivers on the Stralau peninsula have been annoyed when they find their cars “flattened”.
The previously unknown people pinned the reason for their actions to the windshield wipers. Small leaflets that say “WARNING – your fuel guzzler is deadly”.
The drivers will certainly be angry, the perpetrators speculate, but please don’t take it personally. “It’s not you, it’s your car.” The air was deflated because “driving around in inner-city areas with a huge vehicle has enormous consequences for others”.
Driving SUVs not only has consequences for the environment, but also for the neighbors, claim the signatories, who call themselves “The Tire Extinguishers”.
Air pollution is rising, pedestrians are more likely to die in collisions than in accidents involving small cars, and SUV drivers are “more likely to take risks.” The vehicles are “pure vanity”. This also applies to hybrid or electric SUVs.
Activists can download the windshield flyer in 14 different languages from the group’s website.
According to BZ information, such attacks on SUVs and larger cars have been occurring across the city since November 2021. Since then, more than 600 reports of property damage have been filed with the police.
