Don’t swipe on an app, but chat in real life: speed dating in Roden

Where do you come from? How old are you? What do you like to do in your spare time? These are some of the many questions that buzzed through the hall of hotel Onder De Linden in Roden last night. Dozens of people questioned each other there in a short time during a speed dating event.

Together with a few other single friends, Manon Brouw came up with the speed dating evening. “In this day and age, in this society, you see that people find it increasingly difficult to make contact with each other. When was the last time you approached in the pub? That doesn’t happen so often anymore. That’s why we do this and apparently it works On.”

Nearly a hundred people showed up. They get to know each other in rounds of three minutes. At the sound of the bell, one of the two moves on to the next table. Until everyone has spoken.

“After the conversation, you indicate whether you want to date that person again,” explains Brouwen. “If there is a match, the contact details will be released and then love can do its job.”

Brouw herself has no time to participate, because she has to keep a close eye on time. But she still calls. “Suppose there are nice single men in the Northern Netherlands who like a spicy young lady with tattoos and some panther print, let’s hear it. Look me up somewhere. Then it will be all right!”

One of the people who did participate is 24-year-old Daan Wildeboer. Curious how his evening went? Then watch the video below.
