Angela de Jong thinks it is inappropriate that the Op1 editors saddle a star interviewer like Sven Kockelmann with Wendy van Dijk’s rapping son. “With all due respect.”
The talk show Op1 has been under fire for some time. Not only because of the fierce quarrels behind the scenes, but also about incomprehensible substantive choices. For example, last week an extensive stage was offered to the rapping son of Wendy van Dijk, who was allowed to sing a song at the table with his other well-known parent Xander de Buisonjé.
With all due respect
It’s uncomfortable, because many people don’t think this kind of second-rate entertainment is appropriate for public broadcasting and certainly not for a serious interviewer like Sven Kockelmann. Although they thought it was wonderful at Shownieuws…
Angela de Jong thinks interviewing Sem van Dijk is disposable TV. She snorts in the AD Media podcast: “Of course a lot has already been said about Xander de Buisonjé and his son, who were sitting there at the table. Yes, that is not… With all due respect, but I do not think that is an issue for Sven Kockelmann.”
‘Sorry for Sven’
You only want to see Sven make relevant television, says Angela. She points to Op1’s inserted Russia special that he made last Saturday with colleague Tijs van den Brink. “I think they were both just comfortable with the subject.”
And you didn’t see that with Sem van Dijk, says Angela. “That’s just not something where his expertise lies, but I also find it a bit sad to look at it. He just has to interview the hotshots from business and politics. He can do that like no other. In any case, that whole subject was of course quite light for Op1.”
‘Not very’
Sven himself has sometimes indicated that he does not mind making a broad talk show that also includes lighter subjects. Angela’s AD colleague Dennis Jansen: “Yes, he has said that he doesn’t mind. That he doesn’t find it annoying at all to do those kinds of subjects.”
Angela: “No, because then you don’t say yes to Op1. But the point is that I think you have to use the power of people.”
The song of Sem and his famous dad has not yet been found in a hit list. Not a single one.
