Coach Marco Rose is not worried about the many serious departures from the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig with a view to the new season.
“We approach the number in a super positive and relaxed manner. It’s no use losing your nerve,” said Rose after the cup winner’s training session started on Monday.
After the departure of top performers Christopher Nkunku, Konrad Laimer and Dominik Szoboszlai, Leipzig needed “a few exciting ideas” to compensate for the bloodletting: “I think we have them. The implementation can then take a day or two.” , according to Rose. It will be “difficult” to replace the departures and it will take time to integrate the new players, but: “These are doable tasks.”
Defensive edge Josko Gvardiol could leave RB for around 100 million towards Manchester City. Part of the money raised so far has already been reinvested in the additions of Christoph Baumgartner (Hoffenheim/24 million), Benjamin Sesko (24) and Nicolas Seiwald (both Salzburg/20), and the Portuguese Fabio Carvalho was loaned out. Leipzig are still looking for a new striker. “They make a good impression. Young guys with a lot of prospects,” said Rose.
The national players will only return to training on the Cottaweg next Monday (July 17).
