Donny Wamerdam is the next player to leave Johan Cruijff Arena. The defensive midfielder leaves for first divisionist De Graafschap. After Max de Waal, Naci Ünüvar and Kik Pierie, Warmerdam is the fourth young talent to leave Amsterdam in a short time.
“I know De Graafschap as a great club with a very fanatical following,” says Warmerdam on the website of his new club. “I noticed that in the matches I played here with Jong Ajax. I am very excited to develop myself into an even better player and to go for the highest achievable with the team, promotion to the premier league. As a team, we have to give everything together this season.”
Debut in Ajax 1
The 21-year-old Warmerdam has played in Ajax’s youth academy since 2010. The midfielder made his debut in professional football on August 30, 2020 during the match Jong Ajax – Roda JC: 0-4. Warmerdam played 82 matches for the Amsterdam reserves, in which he scored five times. It did not come to a debut in the first of Ajax.
