“Donny’s whole life is Instagram,” says Dries. “He and some friends had come up with a plan to impersonate a movie of their great idol, bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman.” In the clip, Coleman is filmed from a hummer doing walking lunges with a barbell strapped to his neck in the street.
Donny and his friends played the film Monday evening in Hilversum. While turning, the friend driving the Hummer accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. As a result, Donny was hit by the car. “He is lucky that it was a Hummer,” says Dries. “There is a lot of space under the car. That was his luck.”
On Privately Dries let us know on Tuesday morning: “That boy just drove over him, he was ‘out’ and came around again in the ambulance.” He continues: “Donny is clear, he talks well, it all ended well.”

Five broken ribs
Donny is now in hospital with five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. A brain scan at the hospital in Utrecht has shown that Donny did not suffer any brain damage from the accident.
The whole family is very shocked, says father Dries. So does the friend who made the mistake: “That boy is devastated that this happened. They’ve known each other for years, they’re best friends.” According to Dries, Donny is not considering reporting the incident.
