Donny (13) and Kyra (11) provide extra party in Enkhuizen with balloons

Donny and Kyra started their delivery service in September 2021. “We wanted pennies earn”, tell the brother and sister about their delivery service. Together with their mother Noémi, they started looking for a nice side job, after which the delivery of party balloons emerged as the best option.

They are now busy almost weekly to surprise people in Enkhuizen – and sometimes also outside the municipality – with a balloon when they celebrate a birthday or anniversary. In addition, many children surprised their mother for Mother’s Day last month, and registrations for Father’s Day are already pouring in.

Also last week Donny and Kyra were busy. “We were completely sold out with balloons for people who graduated from school,” says Kyra, who turned 11 yesterday. “One person was very surprised that we came by, because he didn’t know he was registered for a balloon. That was very nice.”

Mother Noémi explains that they first bought the balloons themselves from a shop, but that they have now found two regular suppliers who can deliver them cheaper. “We now have one in the Netherlands, but also one in Germany,” she says. “We have a cupboard in the house where all the balloons are ready in different containers. We also have a helium tank to inflate them.”

The family from Enkhuizen receives the most registrations via Facebook. The person who orders a balloon can choose to include a card and write down the address of the person who will be surprised. “So far we deliver a lot on our bicycle in Enkhuizen, because it is close by,” explains Donny, who will celebrate his fourteenth birthday next week. “And when it’s over, our mother has to take us by car.”

For the future, the brother and sister would also like to deliver to other places in West Friesland. “And maybe others want to join Donny and Kyra, to also deliver balloons in, for example, Stede Broec or Hoorn,” says mother Noémi.
