“Done with the peasants!”

Niels van Baarlen, part of the morning show on Radio 538, agrees with Eva Jinek’s much-discussed criticism of farmers in our country. “I’m a bit done with it too.”

Eva Jinek has received an incredible amount of criticism because of her spicy opinion about the farmers in our country. She is annoyed that there is still no agricultural agreement and that the farmers have left the table: “If it no longer works, maybe you should look for another job! That’s what I’m trying to say.”

‘Done farming’

Eva’s striking position has her for two days trending topics made on Twitter, her colleague Luuk Ikink noted yesterday. The presenter made her statements during a conversation in her talk show with farmer chairman Sjaak van der Tak and politician Caroline van der Plas. A fragment of it has also been broadcast in the The 538 Morning.

The sidekick of that radio show, Niels van Baarlen, appears to agree with Eva after that fragment. “I’m also a bit fed up with the complaining of those farmers.”

Rick Romijn, his fellow sidekick, thinks that is too simplistic. “No, no, no, no, no, no, no.”

Little regret

538 star Tim Klijn thinks that Sjaak van der Tak is already disappointed that he has walked away from the table. “He was a little sorry, I think.”

Newsreader Florentien van der Meulen: “Yes, huge.”

Tim: “He had slammed the door, but actually immediately left it ajar.”

Niels laughs down his sleeve: “Yes, and The Hague is now saying: ‘We can also solve it without you, just look at it, we won’t talk to you anymore!’”

Hard-to-get

Tim: “But this is all part of negotiating. Eventually they come out.”

Niels thinks that the farmers have overplayed their hand and finds that amusing: “Look, you always negotiate. Then you think: there will come a time when I’m going to play hard to get and then they have to bow. And The Hague now simply says: ‘Yoohoo!’”

Tim: “I have yet to see that. They also need the farmers to implement those nitrogen plans. They cannot do that alone. An agricultural agreement is needed.”

Close the door

Niels finds it very bland that Sjaak has walked away from the meeting. “In the end, it’s always better to keep talking than to say, ‘I’ll close the door behind me and check it out!’”

Florentien: “This is a serious problem and now nothing is being done before the summer holidays. In the end, of course, it is all about the environment.”

Tim concludes: “It’s all set holdas they say so beautifully.”
