Donar wins in Belgium and reports to the top of the BNXT-League

Thanks to a victory over Limburg United, Donar has reported to the top teams of the BNXT-League. The Groningen team won 88-77 in Hasselt on Friday evening.

Three weeks ago, Donar Limburg United visited Martiniplaza. In an exciting game, the Groningen team won 68-66. It was also exciting on Friday evening and Donar did not distance himself from the Belgians until the end of the fourth quarter.

Donar got off to an excellent start in Hasselt and was leading 8-0 in the blink of an eye. The guests couldn’t hold on to the lead and after the first quarter the difference was only one point in favor of Donar: 20-21.

In the second quarter, Donar started well again and again took an eight-point lead, but at halftime the lead was only three points (35-38). After the break, Limburg United took the biggest lead of the game at 52-45, but that lead also evaporated. The fourth quarter started with a score of 58-56 in favor of the Belgians.

In the last quarter it was initially a change of penny, but towards the end Donar suddenly ran away from the Belgians. The Groningen team ran out at 67-67 to 72-84, which decided the game. Donar eventually won 77-88. Steph Branch was the big man on the side of the Groningen team with 23 points and ten assists.

Thanks to the victory, Donar is only one point behind leaders Antwerp Giants and Mechelen, who will both play on Saturday.
