Donar gets the green light from the license commission. Also top basketball in Groningen next season, albeit under special conditions

Groningen can also enjoy top basketball in the Martiniplaza next season. The licensing committee gave the green light for Donar on Friday.

The club, which was declared bankrupt earlier this summer with a debt of more than 4 million euros, released a short statement around noon.

‘In a hearing this morning of the license committee of the BNXT League with Donar Groningen BV, it was established that the conditions have been met to be able to transfer the license to the new entity Donar Groningen BV. It acquires the license to participate in the BNXT League season 2023-2024, under specific additional conditions that will be published on Monday, August 28 in a comprehensive press release from the BNXT League,” the announcement reads.

Donar’s season starts on September 23 in Martiniplaza with the match against Den Bosch.
