Former US President Donald Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump, has died at the age of 73, according to media reports.
As ABC reports, Ivana Trump was found dead in her Manhattan apartment early Thursday afternoon (local time). She is said to have dialed the emergency number herself before the arrival of the rescue workers and the police because of heart problems.
A statement from the family said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump. Our mother was an incredible woman – a successful businesswoman, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and a caring mother and friend. Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled communism and embraced this country. She taught her children courage and tenacity, compassion and determination. She will be greatly missed by her mother, three children and ten grandchildren.”
Donald Trump himself wrote on the social media platform he founded, Truth Social: “She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman who lived an amazing and inspiring life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric. She was so proud of them, just as we were all proud of them. Rest in peace Ivana!”
Donald and Ivana Trump married in 1977 and divorced in 1990. The marriage produced three children: Donald Trump Jr (1977), Eric (1984) and Ivanka (1981).
In recent years, the relationship between Donald and Ivana had eased after their divorce. In her 2017 book Raising Trump, she wrote that they talked once a week.
