Domien Verschuuren throws up on Edsilia Rombley: ‘She is so rude’

Domien Verschuuren is absolutely sickened by Edsilia Rombley. The Qmusic DJ thinks the singer is a terrible woman without manners. “She’s so rude!”

Edsilia Rombley is one of the least controversial celebrities around, but she has now made someone very angry. And not just anyone, but the big mega radio star of Qmusic: Domien Verschuuren. He was nominated for some radio award last week and it was presented by Edsilia. Not jubilant enough, he thinks.

Payback time

We know Edsilia as quite the clucky chicken and she behaved that way at that awards party (RadioRing gala). The singer had prepared a talk about all the nominees, including Domien. She delicately mentioned that three years ago he tried to kill her in a Judas-like manner last minute to get rid of the Eurovision Song Contest.

What was Domien’s objection? Edsilia had stood for a few minutes during rehearsals in the afternoon next to Duncan Laurence, who turned out to have the coronavirus, and that was why, as far as he was concerned, she could not present the song festival in the evening. It was quite false of Domien and that is why Edsilia thought it was time for it at the awards gala payback.

‘Very rude!’

Edsilia casually noted during the gala that Domien did this trick on her and that it’s a good thing AvroTros didn’t listen to it. Not angry, but just with a cheerful intonation. And what turns out now? Domien is really all over the piss. He believes that the award winner on duty should have applauded him incessantly. Literal.

Domien says in the Man-Men podcast: “I’m going to say it out loud: I thought Edsilia Rombley was incredibly rude. Edsilia came to present the award for best presenter for which I was nominated. She came on and it seemed like she started improvising there, she started cackling, she started chatting, there was no way to make sense of it.”

‘You must HONOR me!’

It was not a coherent story, Domien continues. “At one point I realized: oh, I think you’re trying to tell something about all the nominees you know, and then she came to me. Then she said: ‘Oh, Domien, yes, you once said that they had to take me out of the Eurovision Song Contest. Well, it’s a good thing they didn’t listen to you.’”

Well, that’s why Domien is completely upset. “Then I thought: this is so incredibly rude, you are here to honor me! That’s how it is, otherwise you shouldn’t award that prize! If you think I’m a dick… What would she have done if I had won it? Well, doesn’t matter, I didn’t win, we’ll never know. She attacks me there!”

Judas region

In retrospect, doesn’t Domien also think it was a bit of a Judas prank on his part? “I still support it. It was peak-corona (more than a year after the first case in the Netherlands, ed.). This was when we were all afraid, right, of this virus! It became known that Duncan had corona and then I tweeted that.”

Edsilia just has to swallow that, Domien decides. “Edsilia Rombley thought it would be appropriate, three years later, on an evening in which I take center stage, to revisit an old feud. Yes, sorry, really, the lowest of the low. I didn’t realize it until after that show. Inappropriate, inappropriate. You don’t do that at a gala, do you?”

What does Edsilia think of this rant? “She lets us know that she doesn’t feel like throwing mud,” says Luuk Ikink in RTL Boulevard.
