Film director Dome Karukoski opens up about his divorce to Maria Veitola.

Reporter Maria Veitola asks the director a direct question during her visit.
– When did you get divorced? Veitola inquires from Karukoski.
– Someone a couple of years ago, the director answers.

Karukoski was together for 16 years Nadia Karukoski with. They have two children together.
Veitola wants to know how the ex-couple’s breakup went in the end.
– Very well. I don’t…It’s still a wonderful person. We act as friends, we act as good parents.
– Why did you break up? Veitola wonders.
– People grow apart. That’s the way it is, Karukoski answers.
After the divorce, the director got himself a home in the center of Helsinki. The ended relationship has aroused many kinds of thoughts in the man.
– In love, you have to experience something right and true. If it doesn’t feel like that, then you have to find a new love. Not necessarily a new love, but a new way of living and acting. I’ve experienced a wonderful love with a wonderful person, but now it’s time to move on.

The ex-husband takes care of the children on alternate days. He admits to Veitola that work assignments abroad are not so easy these days.
– So we return to the question: can we have everything? Veitola asks.
– No. Then you have to find what makes you happy. To be honest, I’m really happy now, says Karukoski.
