Singer Dolly Parton says that she has always been confident in her appearance and dressing.

Parton says British In an interview with the Guardianthat at a young age his dressing ideal culminated in women whom others called “trash”.

High heels, tight and short skirts, flamboyance, long red nails and low-cut tops fascinated the young woman.

– When people said that “he’s just trash”, I replied: “well, I’ll be like that when I grow up”, Dolly tells the Guardian.

Parton’s father and her grandfather, who worked as a priest, did not like the young woman’s clothes.

The singer says that her grandfather could even physically punish her for living with her.

That was the price young Dolly was willing to pay for dressing up anyway.

– I’m very sensitive, and I didn’t like homework. It hurt when I was scolded or spanked or something like that. But sometimes there is a part of a person that is ready to go for what they want, if they want it badly enough, Parton tells the Guardian.

The singing legend says that the experience is crystallized in the song he wrote Sacrificewhich appeared in 2011 with the published Better Day on the album.

– It (the song) says that “I was going to get rich no matter the price/ I was going to win, no matter how much I lost/ through the years I’ve kept my eyes on the prize/ and if you want to know if it’s worth the sacrifices”, I think it is, for me, Parton says For the Guardian.

Mother’s meaningful words

Parton has had to defend his appearance in other situations as well. The Guardian says that the record company wanted to modify the singer’s style to be more restrained.

– I have always been honest with myself, Parton tells the magazine.

– That’s what my mother always said: be true to yourself. I gave it weight.

The singer tells the Guardian that he has cared about other people’s opinions during his life.

– But never so much that it would have prevented me from being myself, the singer tells the magazine.
