Tea with Kate Middleton at court it is certainly one of the most coveted and sought-after invitations in London. But not for Dolly Parton. During a recent stay in the British capital, the American singer refused her invitation from the pen of the princess.
Kate Middleton’s invitation to castle
The ticket with the date and time of theappointment in the historic manor for tea with sandwiches and Royal pastries, had arrived at the American singer a few weeks before her arrival in London, for a promotional tour. «I did not go» was the dry revelation of 77-year-old Dolly in a recent interview with Claudia Winkleman, host of a radio program broadcast by the BBC Radio 2.

«It was very nice and kind of the princess to invite me to the castle. Maybe I can go there in the future. Would be great» commented the Parton, which is certainly not new to Royal circles and has met both Queen Elizabeth and the current King Charles in the past. In 1977 he performed in London on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the sovereign, who celebrated 25 years on the throne that very year.
But why didn’t Dolly accept the invitation?
«Kate didn’t want to advertise my new rock record» laughed Dolly, who will be launching next November Rock stars, his 49th album. But she later admitted that the apology sent in response to Middleton she had been much more innocent: when Parton travels for work, she doesn’t have much free time.
