FOOTBALL – DZOH has an unbeaten status for sixteen games and a second place in the second division J on Saturday, but says goodbye to trainer Bert Doldersum in the middle of the season. Roy Stroeve will finish the season as interim trainer.
“I know it seems strange, but we have decided this in good consultation”, Doldersum responds. “On the one hand, I am very sorry, because I wanted to finish it. But on the other hand, it is also good. I leave this club with my head held high.”
Despite the disappointing results of the last few weeks – DZOH had drawn six of the last seven games – the news came as a considerable surprise to the trainer, but also to his selection.
And so this resignation calls for a statement from the board and that is a short one. “There is no more chemistry,” says DZOH chairman Aaldert Feijen. “We want to become champions and hope to achieve that with Roy Stroeve. There is insufficient confidence that this will succeed with Bert Doldersum.”
Doldersum does not hold a grudge against the board of the club from the ‘Drentse Zuid Oost Hoek’: “Next week I will just stand there as a supporter. I left the boys well and it is now up to Roy.”
The former DZOH player is now a youth team trainer and will be responsible for the performance of the main force for the last two months of this season. Stroeve is then succeeded by Marc van Meel, who comes over from VV Noordscheschut.
Doldersum has been active as head coach at DZOH since the summer of 2019 and will be the trainer of Raptim from Coevorden next season.
