Doja Cat explains that it’s not her job to explain her sense of humor to people.
After a discussion with her fans on social media, the claim came out that Doja Cat hates her fans. Now the rapper commented on it and explained that it was a misunderstanding.
“I don’t have to explain my sense of humor to anyone”
In an interview with Appel Music on Thursday (December 14), Doja Cat addressed the incident between her and her fans. She explained that she had never said in a direct statement that she hated her fans. It would have just been a joke that was then recited incorrectly.
“One thing I want to make clear is: You will never see a direct quote from me saying that I hate my fans. Not once. But that’s a really, really misquoted thing. Everyone says she hates her fans. I never said that, but I like to play with it as a meme. I know that the people who understand it understand it too. And I have no problem with that.”
Doja Cat went on to say that it’s not her job to explain her sense of humor: “If people don’t get the joke, then they just don’t get it, and it’s not my job to make them get it.”
In July, the 28-year-old and her fans had an argument on X after they started calling themselves “Kittenz”. The “Agora Hills” rapper strongly criticized the self-naming and wrote in a post that fans who call themselves that need a job. Meanwhile, another user asked the musician to tell her fan that she loved her, to which she simply emphasized that she couldn’t do that because she didn’t know the fans personally. In the following days, Doja Cat lost 500,000 followers.
