Dogs save owner from house fire in Torhout

The fire broke out around 5.30 pm in Steenstraat in Wijnendale. A plume of smoke could be seen from afar.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the resident (55) was sleeping in the sofa. His dogs literally smelled danger and barked their owner awake. The man escaped safely and was not injured.

The rural house is completely burnt out. The fire may have started in a shed.
