No.not just pets but full-fledged members of the family: dogs and cats are our furry children and brothers whose personalities and idiosyncrasies we know perfectly well. This is the premise of Bestial portraits by Claudia Rocchini: “emotional portraits of cats and dogs” that the photographer has created for charity starting from 2020 and which will be on display in Pavia from 14 to 25 May at the Spazio Ex IAT Broletto.
Portraits that can still be done in Monza on 29 May (by booking here): to have a 15-minute photo session of your pet and a free print (offered by FotoTecnica Trentani, partner of the initiative), just donate at least 25 euros of food supplies that will go to less fortunate animals, reported by organizations and associations that deal with of animal protection.
Fotociotola Days, how the project was born
The photographer has developed an articulated project: this is how i Days photocell, charity days to raise funds for less fortunate animals but also unique opportunities for four-legged owners to treat themselves to an author’s portrait of their pet: «I made the beauty of 21 dates, photographed over 300 animals and collected almost 10 thousand euros in food. The results of the experience will be exhibited in Pavia from 14 May »: on display 30 prints and the projection of a series of family portraits of people with their pet.
Portraits of cats and dogs: the photographer’s advice
For an animal portrait to be successful, it is essential help the furry one to relax. “With the cat it is difficult: if he does not want to be photographed, it is useless to insist. It is better to send him for a ride: he will be back. Usually, the more you show disinterest in him, the more he will have for you. Once he has decided to return, make him move in the direction you need by making small noises ».
But if the cat is independent, and portraying him alone is an easy feat for the photographer, “the dog demands the close master, and then often what starts out as an animal portrait becomes a family portrait ». The results are often astonishing: “I am amazed every time byextreme similarity that they have muzzle and face when animal and man relax in front of the lens ». The famous scene of the Charge of the hundred and one teaches.
The secret to stealing the perfect expression from Fido? “Amaze him: just a verse, a “meow” at the right moment, and you will see that it will raise its ears or fold its muzzle to the side, giving you a nice shot ».
