In the night from Saturday to Sunday, two men tried to rob a woman on the Tjotterlaan in Zaandam. During the robbery, the woman’s dog bit one of the perpetrators, who fled without any money.
The woman walked with her dog on the Jachtenlaan on Saturday night around 1.40 am. When she crossed the street and entered the Tjotterlaan, a scooter with two people followed her over the sidewalk. After a while the scooter stopped next to her. The co-driver tried to take her belongings by force, after which a struggle ensued.
When the scooter driver also joined in, the victim’s dog jumped up and bit the man on the arm. The two perpetrators then gave up their attempt and quickly took off on the scooter in the direction of the Dr. Martin Luther King Road.
The woman was injured in the attempted robbery. Police are investigating the incident and are looking for witnesses.
