“Doesn’t make any sense” – Nübel wants to leave Bayern Munich

Alexander Nübel does not want to line up again behind Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich. His advisor is urgently looking for a new employer for the goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel forces his final farewell to FC Bayern Munich. “We’ve always said that it doesn’t make sense for Alex to come back to Bayern as long as Manuel Neuer is still there. He’s fit again now,” said Nübel’s advisor Stefan Backs to the “t-online.de” portal.

After two years at AS Monaco, the 26-year-old keeper should actually be back on duty with the German record champions this summer, but does not want to queue up behind captain Neuer. “That’s why I’m looking for a new club for Alex – one that will take him as far as possible,” said consultant Backs.

Nübel should play at a high level

Possible goals are premier league or a top international club. “Criterion number one is that he has to play, criterion number two is the highest possible level of play”said Backs. A change to another Bundesliga team, on the other hand, is rather unlikely, reported “t-online.de”.

Nübel moved to Munich from FC Schalke 04 on a free transfer in mid-2020. But he was only left with the role of substitute behind national goalkeeper Neuer. That’s why he had been loaned to Monaco and was a regular there. His contract with Bayern runs until mid-2025. Should he leave the series champion, a buyback clause is said to be under discussion. This is according to Backs “An appreciation from Bayern Munich. A sign that they still believe in him.”

At FC Bayern, Manuel Neuer is expected to make a comeback in preparation for the new season. The 37-year-old suffered a broken leg in a skiing accident after the World Cup and was out for six months.
