In search of reinforcements for the coming season, FC Schalke reportedly found what they were looking for in league competition FC Heidenheim.
As reported by “Bild”, the Royal Blues are interested in signing winger Tobias Mohr. The 26-year-old left winger is “on the list” of sports director Peter Knäbel and sports director Rouven Schröder, the newspaper reports.
Two aspects should speak in particular for Mohr: his sporting qualities and his price. With seven goals and five assists, the Aachen native is Heidenheim’s most successful scorer this season. He has also featured in all 32 competitive players this season, 31 of them in the starting XI.
Since Mohr’s contract with FCH expires in the summer of 2023, those responsible for Schalke are hoping for a bargain at the same time. It is not clear exactly how much they can or should spend on the left winger. However, the “Ruhr Nachrichten” writes of a “price category that Schalke could pay”.
FC Schalke transfer will “soon take place”
According to “Bild”, the Schalke scouts are convinced that Mohr could also prevail in the Bundesliga. As the current runners-up in the Bundesliga 2, the Knappen have a good chance of returning to the top flight with three games to go.
Since Mohr fits perfectly into the royal blue scheme, the transfer will “probably take place soon”, reports the “Ruhr Nachrichten”, whose sources at least did not deny the rumor when asked.
Mohr has been lacing up his shoes for 1. FC Heidenheim since January 2020, having previously played for SpVgg Greuther Fürth for a year and a half. Before his engagement with the Kleeblätter, he went through the youth departments of Alemannia Aachen and made it into the squad of the first team there in the summer of 2014.
