In the last BVB home game last season against Hertha BSC (2:1), Dan-Axel Zagadou was officially dismissed by Borussia Dortmund. Since then, it has become quiet around the Frenchman, who has not yet found a new club. Now a solution for the beefy central defender seems to be in the offing.
According to a recent report by “Sky Italia” Italian runners-up Inter Milan have their sights set on the 23-year-old. The Nerazzurri would not have to pay a fee for the former French youth international, who has been officially without a club since July 1. The left-footed player could therefore immediately go to the Champions League Participants join if Zagadou is actually hired.
As the media report goes on to say, the Inter club bosses are said to have already met with the advisers of the 1.96 m giant on Friday to explore possible cooperation from this summer. It is an open secret that the table second in the past Serie A season is still on the intensive search for a new central defender for the new season.
Zagadou was under contract with BVB for five years
Dan-Axel Zagadou was active for BVB for five years, but in the second half of 2021/2022 he was not presented with a new working paper from the black and yellow. After a promising start with Dortmund with many appearances while still a teenager, things have become increasingly difficult for the defensive giants in recent seasons.
In addition to significant fluctuations in performance, Zagadou also had to contend with some injury concerns, including being out for months with serious knee injuries.
Overall, the left-footed player only played 92 competitive games for Borussia in five years, scoring four goals. In 2021 he became DFB Cup winner with BVB.
