De Croo wants to succeed himself as prime minister of our country. De Croo’s party has recorded its worst poll result ever with 8.3 percent, according to the Grand Poll of Het Laatste Nieuws, VTM NEWS, Le Soir and RTL. Also, 68 percent of the population would rather not see De Croo become prime minister again. “The elections are on June 9. People can then speak out,” says De Croo.
“The crisis has taught us that it only works if you bring people together. That’s my role. As a country you do not want to become the plaything of international financial markets. I believe in the possibilities of our country. We have an incredible amount of strengths, but we still have a few things to address. Those who are now overly negative are not going to make our country better,” said the prime minister.
In the meantime, Bart De Wever (N-VA) has opened the hunt for the right wing of Open Vld and CD&V. “We have seen that kind of block formation a number of times over the past fifteen years. Block formation leads to blocking. Do we want that? It sometimes takes two years before a government can be formed. Politicians who have a lot of votes should use the responsibility to make our country better and not shy away from it.”
