A new video on social media is currently causing speculation among ABBA fans. Björn Ulvaeus says how amazed he is that the band’s win at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with “Waterloo” will have been 50 years ago in 2024. And invites the fans to “celebrate with us”.
The ABBA Museum account writes: “2024 tickets are now available!🤩 Buy your ticket online in advance to get the best price and to secure your preferred schedule. 2024 is the 50th anniversary of ‘Waterloo’😍. Come and celebrate winning the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 with us here at the ABBA Museum💃. Walk in. Dance Out.”
Now it’s a mystery whether Ulvaeus – or Benny Andersson, Frida Lyngstad or Agnetha Fältskog – will not only be there at the official anniversary at the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Stockholm in 2024, or whether the band will also stop by their museum.
The ABBA Museum’s Instagram account responded to a question about whether certain events were taking place there with a deliberately vague response: “Make sure you follow our newsletter to be the first to know. More information to come… 😉 Walk in. Dance Out.”
A little further down in the Instagram thread is the sad resolution: “You can buy tickets for the museum on our website abbathemuseum.com. The ABBA members won’t be in the museum, but you can still become the 5th member 😉 .Walk In. Dance out. 💃” How complex does the training for Abba’s social media team actually have to be, every official answer with the phrase “Walk In. Dance Out”?
The four band members have not yet commented on whether they can be expected at least at the ESC next year. A live performance by the quartet seems out of the question; they only let their “Abbatars” perform, or Benny and Björn do it as a duo (with Helene Fischer), as in “Wetten, dass..?”. Fältskog, who recently released her first solo album since 2013 (“A+”, a remix record), doesn’t seem to be completely averse to a live reunion, but is still considered the shyest of the four.
