AZ is currently doing quite well on all fronts. The Alkmaarders lead the ranking in the Eredivisie and the team proudly leads the Conference League. “We show every match that we are difficult to beat,” says Tijjani Reijnders.
The 24-year-old midfielder is one of the trendsetters in midfield this season. He sees that AZ manages to score almost every match and that it is difficult to beat collectively. “We feel good about ourselves,” says Reijnders, who also guards against a euphoric feeling within the selection. “But it will come alive in the group.”
Hard to beat
Everyone at AZ is trying to temper expectations when it comes to this season. “It is going satisfactorily,” said a proud trainer Pascal Jansen after the match against Apollon Limassol. “You can see the team growing. We radiate that we are a unit.”

Championship
At AZ they look at the situation from match to match, but the fans are only too happy to watch Teletext. There they see their team at the top again and may dare to cautiously dream of the championship. “We are only eight games on the way,” says Sam Beukema, who wants to attack the top-4 with AZ. “That is our objective and we are not going to adjust it. Maybe we will exceed expectations.”
