When Vivianne Miedema tore her cruciate ligament more than a year ago, she knew that her World Cup had to be canceled. A month before disaster struck the Dutch woman, the same thing happened to her friend Beth Mead. Their rehabilitation has been recorded in a documentary.

“The next step we need to take is to better prepare young girls for professional football,” Miedema continues. “So far that hasn’t been a priority, but I think it should be at the top of the list.”
