Yes 2021 had been the year of all records for French Tech players, 2022 will certainly be even more memorable. The whole French tech ecosystem was wondering when this fundraiser for Doctolib would take place. Indeed, the context of the health crisis and the explosion of teleconsultation have been beneficial to the activity of the French start-up. The anomaly is now rectified.

Since its last fundraising of 150 million euros in 2019, Doctolib has not remained inactive. An operation took place, without much communication. Since its inception, the company has managed to attract 900 million euros in funding. According to Stanislas Niox-Chateau, CEO and co-founder of the company, the European leader in scheduling medical appointments could even have obtained more.

What are Doctolib’s projects?

From now on, the objective is that of profitability. Today, the strategy is still to invest in order to continue to grow. The co-founders of Doctolib are betting on 2024 or 2025 to reach the famous break-even point. Currently, many investments are used to develop new software for doctors, nurses and liberal physiotherapists, but also for hospitals, which should all be completed this year.

Reaching more than 13% of the European market and 60 million users and 300,000 health professionals, Doctolib allows them to find a health professional, make a medical appointment online, carry out a teleconsultation or manage their health and that of their loved ones. The company wants to go even further by creating “additional services, such as sharing dematerialized prescriptions, or messaging with healthcare professionals”.

This messaging system should see the light of day in 2022. It promises to offer caregivers the ability to communicate with each other securely. The other main objective of Doctolib is to “attack the hospitals”. In 2022, 250 public hospitals are already users of Doctolib, including 50% of university hospitals. With this new funding, the French start-up specifies that it also intends to strengthen its cybersecurity teams.
