Do you want to be a millionaire? returns to screens on Saturday, August 27. In the new season, Jaajo Linnonmaa’s place will be replaced by an actor Antti Holma.
In the opening episode of the season, the Kotka native aims for a million euro pot Kim Soares47, who is faced with a tough spot right at the beginning of the episode with a sports question worth 700 euros.
Holma asks who won the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. The answer options are Heikki Mikkola, Pertti Karppinen, Juha Väätäinen and Lasse Virén.
– It could be that it was here. When I applied to the program, I said sports were my weak point, says Kim.
Kim decides to tell his friend who is a sports expert. The guy quickly answers Virén.
Holma praises the efficient call, but Kim hesitates.
– I don’t know if efficiency always gives the right answer. Oh no. Maybe I’ll use another straw, and I could ask the audience, Kim concludes.
– You don’t trust the guy? Antti asks.
– I didn’t trust myself either, Kim answers.
All three of the audience respond to Virén. A person from Espoo gives a particularly accurate answer Rainer Björklund.
– Yes, it is Lasse Virén! Mikkola is a motor athlete, Karppinen a rower, and Juha Väätäinen did indeed win the 5,000-meter run at the 1971 European Championships in Helsinki. Lasse Virén won the 5,000 and 10,000 races in Munich in 1972 and the same in Montreal, that is, Lasse Virén.
